Thanks Britney, Sarah, Paris, Vince, Lindsay, and Pat!

Sarah, Pat, and Vince, along with my other fave Hollywood stars, sent me the perfect “good luck on boards” care package: Sprinkle cupcake mix (red velvet- mmmmm!), an Oscar (because every stressed out ER doc needs one!), and a “Little Miss Beverly Hills” shirt. Thanks everyone! I LOVE IT!!!

The Oscar says “Best Doctor”! I think I should bring it to work tonight at pop it on my computer!

Babysitting Cousin Thor

Mr. and Mrs. China are out of town, so we’re baby sitting Elton’s cousin, Thor (Julie and Grant’s basset hound), this week. Thor howled and cried for the first two hours, but he’s now adjusted to life as a visiting Ping.

He spends most of the day sleeping.

Occasionally, he and Elton will beg for food. They also like romping in the yard and at the park.

But, overall, he just loves to sleep. :)

Surfing in our Backyard

Just another reason why I really love our house:

I was in our sitting room, and saw these guys go by on their longboards. It looked like they were standing on water and I had to take a double take.

Six bananas, two papayas and an avocado

One of our medical students gave me six bananas, two papayas and an avocado as a thank you for writing him a letter of recommendation. I gave a papaya away, Jonathan ate the other, I still have the avocado, and I made banana muffins with the bananas. mmmm…

I found a recipe on foodnetwork.com, and tweaked the recipe with a little of this and that from our pantry. They muffins turned out really yummy, so I’m going to put it down here, so I don’t forget the recipe:

1 1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 stick unsalted butter

2 eggs

Beat together until fluffy

5-6 bananas

1 T milk

2 t vanilla

Mush together, then add to butter mixture, mix together dry ingredients and add to wet.

2 t cinnamon

1 t nutmeg

1 t baking power

1 t baking soda

1/2 cup walnuts

Put into muffin tins and dust with sugar. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean.

The finished product! I’ve already eaten three muffins already!  The sugar makes the top crunchy and for banana muffins, they are really light and fluffy.

Plain White T’s

Tonight we went to the Plain White T’s concert; a Chicago group best known for “Hey There Delilah” and “Our Time Now”. We met Crystal after work for half off happy hour and mozied down to Pipeline cafe, a cozy club in downtown.

Crystal and I were very excited over our “hottie” wrist bands!

We actually stood really close to the stage, but alas, our feet got tired from standing and getting stepped on by the moshers, so we moved to the back and enjoyed the last few songs in comfort.

Overall, a great concert. Tons of fun and great music. :)
