Hawaii Kai Dog Walk

Today, we took Diggies on the Hawaii Kai Dog Walk. We walked the “mini” 0.7 mile walk with Julie, Grant and cousin Thor. There were a ton of dogs there.  Elton enjoyed socializing with the humans and some of the pups.

We also  enjoyed the photo booth.

We won a new cooler from the raffle.

And we scored a bunch of free doggie treats, food, and toys for Elton, and T-shirts for Jonathan and me. Here’s a picture of Elton checking out his loot!

Happy big 3-0 Jonathan!

A quiet birthday celebration: Elton and I sang “Happy Birthday”!

And we all enjoyed lemon crunch cake! mmmm….

New flagstone for our new yard.

The delivery guy dropped off 350 sq feet of “golden ray” flagstone on mesh.

It’s beautiful. They are connected together on a mesh, interlock into one another, and should be really easy to install.

All done!

Concrete is busted!

We finished in good time, but not without some injuries….

Our “new” wheelbarrow has a few big holes.

I also got a small gash on my leg from the concrete meshwork. Tetanus!

Our beautiful floors are totally dusty. I mop and sweep almost daily after busting concrete, but it always seems to reaccumulate. I think Elton’s moppy feet tracks in the dust from the outside!

And all of our muscles are achy and broken!

But, despite our achy muscles, dusty house, and broken stuff, we’re almost done! Just 200 more square feet of chipping away the furturastone, and we’re ready to lay our flagstone!

Elton on the boatdock

Diggies was a little weary of the floating bobbing dock at first, but now he loves to run onto the dock!

I think his windswept fuzz is very dashing!

Our New Boat Dock!

Our new dock arrived today! A beautiful pre-dock photo taken today.

We hired Pacific Diving to build our dock. After a few months of waiting for our paperwork, our new dock came floating into our home!

Here’s a picture of our dock being towed into our marina. It was assembled at the Pacific Diving shop, and brought in by sea.

After getting it into position, they secured the dock into the existing concrete slab. Jonathan got onto the dock to help out.

After a fresh coat of paint, our dock is ready to use! All we need now is a boat. :)

Work potluck!

This is a picture of the night crew at our most recent potluck. We have at least one potluck a week! When I first started, we had potlucks for occasions– birthdays or holidays– but now, we’re having potlucks just to have potlucks… I think that’s why I’ve gained a ton of weight since moving back to Hawaii!

A very flattering photo of myself chowing down on the yummy meat jun. Mmmmm!

We have a lot of concrete

We’ve been steadily breaking down all of the concrete. Dad has been working especially hard– He does all of the jack hammering, and Jonathan and I move the concrete rocks to the side of the house.

We have a ton of concrete building up on the side of the house! It’s now fully covering the entire side of our bedroom, winding around the air-conditioning unit!

Our brand new wheel barrow doesn’t look new anymore either. It has a few well worn dents and scrapes. It gives it a nice antique-y feel (Crystal– What episode is that from?!?)

It’s hard work, but overall, we’re really happy with our concrete blasting, landscaping, back breaking progress! :)
