Here’s the before, during and after pictures:

Dad came over today and we installed our new lawn!
I used a phosphorus rich fertilizer and we patched the sod pieces together on our compost-soil mixture.

The grass itself had a ton of dirt on it, so we created a huge mess. Tomorrow we have to power wash the flagstone!

All done. We still have to wait a couple of days before Elton can romp over his new lawn, but overall, it looks beautiful!

Good news: Grass arrived! 750 square feet of el toro zosia.

We spent the day adding three more cubic yards of topsoil. Jonathan and I got really muddy, but we’re installing the grass tomorrow!

Jonathan and I added 5 cubic yards of a topsoil / compost mixture to our yard yesterday. We had to backfill the two big holes in our yard from busting out the concrete. Here’s a picture from the start of our day:

The topsoil was delivered to our driveway.

Jonathan moved the dirt from the driveway to the back yard.

I shoveled the dirt into the wheelbarrows.

And Elton waited patiently.

Our finished product. Ready for grass!

Kick ball pictures!

Here’s a picture of us actually playing kickball.

And after a long, long day of kickball, Brett fell asleep and we decorated him.

We see the light at the end of the back yard renovation tunnel! Jonathan, dad and I installed our new sprinkler system into the back yard. We first dug trenches to lay the pipe. Jonathan and dad cut the pipe to size and connected the pipes together.

I got to glue the pipes together. (the blue stuff)

We put on the sprinkler heads from Home Depot, drilled holes into the pipe where the sprinklers were, and now, we have a new sprinkler system!

All done!

Grouting is hard work! The grout stuck to the stone, so the entire patio had a white, sandy film.

We tried to power wash it off. Unfortunately, dad’s 1300 psi washer wasn’t enough.

So, we went to Hawaii rent-all and rented a 2500 psi monster washer.

The little washer lay on the side while the monster washer removed the white layer. All gone!
