Thanks West Family

img_4716

Thank you Uncle Pat, Aunty Sarah and Cousin Sky for the box of goodies we got in the mail today.  Rafa and Elton totally rocked in the AC/DC bandanas.  Totally random– Where did you get these marvelous puppy outfits?

img_4737

It was very stylish and made Elton miss his AC/DC obsessed  neighbors from Portland.

Rafa also enjoyed checking out the paparazzi play set/ figurines.  We always joke that we’re Rafa’s paparazzi– we take so many pictures of him!

Love it!

Otsuji Farms

img_4711

Jonathan and I decided that we don’t eat enough vegetables.  Now, in an effort to eat our daily requirement of greens and to support our local farmers and economy, we started buying a box of vegetables each week from Otsuji Farms, a family owned farm in Hawaii Kai.

It’s quite a steal:  For $10, they pack a HUGE box of vegetables.  This week, we got daikon, green onions, choi sum, bok choy, and lettuce.   It all looks very yummy, and the pups had a good time checkout out our haul.

Rafa and Elton’s day of (beach) fun

img_4689

We took Rafa to the beach the other day.  It was his first day at the ocean, and he did great.  Elton LOVES the ocean and spent the entire afternoon bodysurfing in the waves.   Rafa got splashed by some waves…

img_4677

He didn’t like that too much, so he spent most of the day up on shore…

And got super sandy!

Loony tunes, or a couple donuts short of a dozen…

I was going through our photos to upload to our digital photo frame (thanks Mom Ping!), and I found this photo from earlier this year.

I think we were trying out our new gorilla pod.  Crazy.

Target

Target opened up in Hawaii.  Yeah! We loved Target in Oregon, and were really excited to check it out.  We went to the new Salt Lake location and I scored a bunch of loot.

The pups got a present too:  Raw hide treats.  Yum.

Jenny’s tomatoes

img_4667

Jonathan recently put up a blog post about our victory garden.  Recently, our two indoor palm trees died, so I had an couple of extra large pots.  So far, so great.  I have 11 tomatoes on our plant and tons of flowers.

img_4670

I learned in my most recent Martha Stewart Living, tomatoes grow best with basil (for taste) and parsley (for bounty).   I underplanted my tomato plant and have a small pot on the side for mint.  Right now, our only problem is keeping Rafa out of the plants!

Framing family photo

img_4657

I finally got around to framing our Ping family photo from Christmas!  I enlarged the picture at Costco to 11X14 and got a fancy wooden frame with a large mat from Ross.   The picture is now hanging out on the wall next to our TV in our living room.  Of course, I removed the price sticker before it went on the wall and it looks great!

Rafa watching the canoes…

Every weekday, the canoe club practices out in our backyard. Most days, Rafa and Charlotte watch them canoe by, and sometimes they even bark a hello.

Straub/ Kapiolani 10K 2009

img_4606

Julie, Rafa and I walked the Straub Women’s 10K. We entered Rafa in the stoller division, and he did great!

img_4610

He got a little scared when the gun went off and jumped out of the stoller…

img_4609

But after we started he loved looking at all of the runners and pooped out and took a nap by the fifth mile!
