Yet another bird flew into our house. Crystal- We’re sorry for waking you up this morning. I screamed because Elton cornered the poor thing and was chomping down on the bird. Stupid bird…

Dad’s home from the hospital, recovering and resting. We all caught a little bronchitis from the hospital and although Jonathan calls it “consumption”, I think it’s more of a viral illness. Besides the little cough, we’re focusing on dad’s recovery. Rafa will be going over to the ‘rents house for intensive pet therapy and belly rubs (I think Rafi’s will love the special attention) and Dr. Chinn told dad to eat a lot of vegetables, so we ordered him a box vegetables from Otsuji Farms this weekend. Dad should be up and back to his active self in no time.

Everyone is doing well. Mom likes her temporary new pad at Jr’s (clean, with tv, and internet, thanks to Jonathan!). Dad’s health is on the mend. No more extra, combersom tubes. I’m going back to work tonight. Bought some chocolate bunnies for my work crew. The kids can’t want to hang out with grandpa again– perhaps tomorrow night after he gets out of the ICU… and Jonathan has been a super dooper husband- waiting axiously with the rest of the family, grabbing food for our hungry bellies, cleaning our house, and overall taking exellent care of our babies. Bonus points for Jonathan.

Happy Birthday Jr!

The Sato family enjoyed a fabulous Yakudoshi Party for Jr. at Gyotaku. I especially love the combo three- Butterfish (yum), poke (yummy) and tempura (triple yummy).

Tons of food and laughs with our family.

Janell and Dad folding origami cranes.

The family photo, using my gorilla pod.

Jonathan and Janell enjoying the food.

Dad and Jarrin checking out the menu.
And of course, cake! We got the lemon crunch cake from Diamond Head Grill and I made the ice cream- butter pecan (thanks Paula Dean)- with my ice cream maker. I thought it all tasted very delicious.

Happy Easter! Jonathan, Crystal and I went over to Julie and Grant’s for Easter dinner. We dressed the pups up in their Easter finest. Charlotte wore her “Cold nose, warm heart” t-shift, Elton wore Thor’s old aloha shirt, and Rafa wore his most favorite AC/DC bandana.

As always, there was a ton of delicious food and great company.

First, the puppies got a lot of love while the kids dyed eggs…

and made Easter baskets. Here’s a picture of Crystal hard at work making Mahina’s basket handle.

After dying the eggs, the kids enjoyed the Easter egg hunt…

… skipping rocks in the ocean…

and eating good food. Mmmm… Thor and Elton loved the ham and turkey handouts from Grandma.

Dad has a beautiful lavender field (or a very large bush) growing in his front yard. Today, we picked a bunch and I arranged them into a pretty bouquet.

Jonathan, Rafa and I love the smell, and Elton and Charlotte enjoyed posing with the flowers.

Jonathan and I really love the concept of “indoor-outdoor” living; when we’re at home, we keep the back sliding doors open. The dogs can run in and out of the house and we can take advantage of living on the water and the nice trade winds. Most times, Rafa (or the wind) will bring in twigs and other bits of plant material, but yesterday, a couple of birds decided to fly into our house.

The birds flew around the house, Elton chased them, and Jonathan caught them with oven mitts and pot holders.

I got to clean up the feathery mess
