Quite day yesterday; mom and dad went out for dinner and the kids came over and baked a cake. Tomorrow is the big party day! Mmmm… all you can eat Hawaii Prince Hotel brunch buffet (I LOVE their sushi bar!) , Diamond Head Bakery cake, and party favors!
It’s written by Martha Stewart’s two French Bulldogs, Francesca and Sharkey! They seem to live a much more exciting life than our poor puppers. They practice yoga, have personalized shopping carts and know a ton of rich and famous people.
I think a blog written by Elton, Rafa and Charlotte would have a lot of posts on sleeping, chasing the garden hose, and pooping. Oh, and Elton would write about his annoying little bro and super loud sister (she snores).
A sample of my favorite family photos from yesterday… Despite the sweat, humidity and hyper puppies, we got a lot of really great pictures. I love how photogenic everyone was. Not to be too immodest, but we look like we belong in a Hawaii tourist pamphlet! I think I’m going to order the first two pictures for my wall… Probably an 11X14 of the group shot, and a smaller print of mom and dad on the beach…
We took our Sato Family photos today at Sandy Beach.
Mom really liked the Ping Family photos, so Julie, Jr and I got her family photos for Mother’s Day.
Sandy Beach was a really beautiful site for photos, but it was really hot and humid– Jonathan had HUGE sweat stains. Poor Jonathan had to carry around all of the puppy gear too! (play pen, Elton, toys, water, and accessories)
Rafa, Charlotte, Elton and Thor passed the time by chilaxing on the beach and eating sand.
Yes, eating sand. I’m sure that Rafa and Charlotte will have sandy poop tomorrow.
After pictures, we all went to Big City Diner in Kaimuki.
We feasted on mac nut pancakes (super yummy– almost as good as Boots and Kimos, but the sauce is not as thick) and kim chee fried rice (the orginal, and best on the island). mmmm….
Thank you cousin Thor for the very cute flower squeaky toy and get well card. Rafa steals the squeaker, so Charlotte doesn’t get to play with her toy very much!
Charlotte got the snip snip yesterday. The surgery went well, and she was able to come home later in the day. She was pretty groggy from the pain medications and anesthesia, but is in much better spirits today. So far, no excessive post-op pain or bleeding. In fact, she has a ton of energy and is almost back to her lively self. Our only problem is keeping her away from her bothersome brother. He loves to sniff her stitches and lick her belly!
Thanks to Animal Care Foundation in Hawaii Kai for their low cost spay and neuter program.
Jonathan and I joined the Cavalier King Charles of Hawaii Club, and together with a few other members, we organized a monthly playgroup for East Oahu Cavaliers.
We generally spend the hour throwing around the frisbee and practicing agility– Rafa is learning to run through the big blue tube now and is a semi-pro at retrieving. He’s pretty good at chasing the frisbee and bringing it back towards us, but he tends to loose interest halfway back. I guess he’s much more of a spaniel, rather than a retriever.
We meet at the Hawaii Kai Dog Park, every second Thursday at 9 am. It’s a lot of fun with a lot of cute Cavaliers.
Last night, we went to a graduation party for our friend Brie, Crystal’s roommate from college (and the first medical student to rotate through our department after I took over as rotation coordinator!). She graduated from JABSOM yesterday, and is off to LA for general surgical residency. Brie is the most motivated medical student I have ever met, and I’m sure that she’ll be an excellent surgeon.
The party was at Waikiki Lau Lee Chai, and we were treated to a gob of fancy Chinese food– I can’t remember all 10 courses, but I loved the garlic lobster, jellyfish, walnut shrimp, roast duck, and steamed whole fish.
I liked the party favors the best– prescription bottles filled with M&M’s. Totally creative.
