About the Pings

IMG_3816

Jon and Jenny are humans and live in Honolulu with our three two fuzzy kids, Elton and Rafael. Charlotte.  We spend our days fixing up our newly purchased (but not new) home, traveling, cooking and eating yummy food, and gardening.  Most of all, we  love spending time together as a family.

A couple of years ago, I graduated from residency, and we moved back from Portland, Oregon, to Hawaii, to be closer to my family.   I started this blog to update our friends and family on the mainland USA  of our daily adventures-  Remodeling our house, raising Cavalier King Charles puppies, hanging out with my very large family, and exploring our new island home.

Update!  We rehomed Char-char with Aunty Helen.  We think this will be a much better living situation for Charlotte, and we’re sure that she’ll love being the only child of an elderly woman.  :)

Question, are you on Big Island? If so, are there fleas and/or ticks? We are thinking of relocating to HI by the end of the year. Thanks in advance!

No, we’re on Oahu. There are fleas and ticks in Hawaii; we had a problem with fleas when we first moved here, but put our dogs on comfortis and have had no problems since. Hawaii is rabies free, so your pets must undergo a 120 day quarantine or must meet the pretty strict requirements for the five days or less quarantine.

Thank you very much! Our current island (St. Croix, USVI) is rabies free and our dogs’ rabies vaccs (needed to move here from Florida) have expired…we need to get that taken care of ASAP (we hope to move to HI in the winter). We have fleas and ticks here, but we use Frontline Plus and Preventic Collars.

Hoping to meet other Cavalier families on big island; found you in a Google search. There are only four CKCS on our island. Yours are adorable!
